I have just completed reading Force Recon Diary by Bruce Norton. I served with The Marines as a Hospital Corpsman in Vietnam June of 69
To June of 70 with the 1st Marines 2nd Batt and 1st Med in Danang.
In the book Bruce describes two incidents of attacks on Recon members
By Bengal tigers, in one case the tiger is killed and recovered and brought back to Division rear. I was at 1st med in May of 70 when a
large Bengal tiger was brought in for a autopsy. I have pictures of the tiger, that I would be willing to share with him and gain anymore insight
About that incident. Could you forward this information to him.
Thank you for your assistance.
Hey John,
Bruce Norton was a Tac Officer at the Citadel when I was there.
The story he told us was that one night during a Long Range Patrol they heard kinda muffled screaming but they didn’t want to move to give away their position. So they waited until morning. When the woke, there was a blood smear leading away from the team and the tiger had apparently snuck up on and killed one of their teammates. They tracked it down and I believe killed it and recovered his remains and extracted them and then continued their mission. Maybe that’s one of them?
